I feel great again! After completing the 5-Day Fasting Mimicking Diet (FMD) for the second time, I don’t know how many times I have thought to myself, I feel great! The last time I weighed 180 lbs., was the morning of my first triathlon, that was 15 years ago, and it took a ton of training to get there. In all the triathlons I did after that one, I never got back to 180 lbs.
The weight loss is actually secondary. It is how good I feel all around that I can’t believe. Saturday night we went to dinner at a Greek restaurant where the food is amazing. On my way home I was thinking to myself, of all the substances I have put in my body over the years nothing has made me feel this good. I have tried a lot good things over the years, mostly over-the-counter supplements, some prescriptions and some not ?. Some things I wouldn’t advise anybody to try.
What happens at cellular level during the FMD has no comparison to anything I have ever done before. On my fifth day, Friday, I went to the gym and had a great workout. My energy level is higher than it has been in years. I had coffee on Saturday morning just out of habit, I sure didn’t need it. Sunday, I had tea in the morning and laid a floor down in my home office, worked out, did groceries for the week, planted moringa, eggplant, cilantro, lettuce and various pepper seeds, had dinner and completed a lecture series on the importance of sleep and the role of epigenetics on our sleep patterns. (More on that later this week.)
It seems like everything is working better. I mean everything! Between the FMD, changing the way I eat to a Mediterranean diet and working on getting my sleep in order, I feel better than I have in years. I feel like I just woke up after being in a daze for years. Now, I know what people are talking about when they say brain fog. I thought I knew, but now I KNOW!
I have written a couple of blogs on the FMD, if you have not read them yet take a minute and read through those. The science and research behind it is real. I have several research papers I can send you, if you are into that kind of stuff like I am, just send me an email or post a comment if you would like me to send those to you.
I am also getting certified as an Epigenetic Coach. In the coming days and weeks, I will post some articles on my progress. I just completed the lecture series on sleep. Here are some quick facts about sleep. Living with chronic sleep deprivation on a daily basis puts your chances of dying early right up there with a cigarette smoker. The World Heath Organization lists sleep shift disorder as a Cancer risk. People that are sleep deprived have a greater likelyhood of being overweight or obese.
So to sum this up, if you want to feel great again, have more energy, enjoy better sex, think clearly, reduce your chances of cancer, lose weight and live longer, fix what you eat and fix your sleep pattern.
